About this book
France publishes its law as open data and pays family benefits by detailed rules. This book follows one fictional family, the Garniers, through a benefits file built as an executable model of those rules: which text applies on which date, how much is due and why, what the fund and the household must each do, where the law calls for a human judgment, and how a decision is explained to the person who receives it. It is written for lawyers and policy staff, programme analysts and developers. An independent Arxo model built from published French law; not an implementation by or for the Cnaf. The book is first of all a demonstration of modelling legislation with Arxo; it does not claim legal accuracy or completeness and is not legal advice.
